The DACKEL ASSOCIATION
Frankfurt American High School
Frankfurt A/M, Germany
October, 1946 to June, 1950
The Dackel Association is composed of those students who attended Frankfurt American High School, Frankfurt, Germany, from October, 1946, through June, 1950. Students from 1946 to 1950 make up the earliest year group of Frankfurt American High School Alumni. In 1946 the Seventh and Eighth grades were also a part of the high school and so we have included the classes of 1951 and 1952 in our activities. Our membership is based primarily on those who attended in the earliest Years.
We have held thirteen reunions to date. The first, sponsored by the Class of 1947, was held in 1997 in San Antonio, Texas. The second, sponsored by the Class of 1948, was held in Lexington, Kentucky in 1998; the third, sponsored by the Class of 1949, was held in 1999, in Santa Rosa, California. Our fourth, sponsored by the Post Grads and the Class of 1950, was held in 2000 in the German Village, a section of Columbus, Ohio. Our fifth, sponsored by the Class of 1951 was held in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Our sixth, sponsored by the Class of 1952 was held in 2002 in Fredericksburg, Texas, a village founded by German settlers in the middle 1800's. Our seventh was held in 2003 in Sparks, Nevada. This reunion was not sponsored by any class but by the group as a whole. This will be true of all future reunions. Our eighth reunion was held in Kansas City, Missouri in 2004. The ninth reunion was held in Tucson Arizona in 2005. In 2006 our tenth reunion was held in Indianapolis, Indiana. The eleventh reunion was held in Mesa, Arizona in 2007. Our twelfth reunion was held in Fredericksburg, Texas in October 2008. Our thirteenth reunion was held in Cleveland Ohio, in July, 2009.
Our fourteenth reunion will be held in Flagstaff, Arizona, 6 to 10 October, 2010. For more information contact reunion chairman Jim Skaggs, ’51, P.O. Box 31930, Mesa, AZ. 85275. E-Mail: jdskaggs@cox.net
Of the approximately 250 students at Frankfurt American High School during the 1946-1947 school year, we have found about 160, and we are still in the process of trying to locate the rest. For the years beyond that first year we are not sure of all of the names and numbers of students who attended each year. Since there are few existing records we need all of the assistance we can get to help us locate our missing classmates. We are looking for members of the faculty for those years as well.
If you attended Frankfurt American High School as a student, or as a member of the Staff and Faculty, during the years mentioned above, you are automatically a member of the Dackel Association. There are no dues. Others who are interested, or have a connection with the Frankfurt American High School in the late 1940's and early 1950's are welcome to participate in our activities. If you are interested in learning more about the Dackel Association, or if you know of someone who was at Frankfurt American High during the years mentioned above, please contact one of the following:
